Things to consider:
- How flexible does your space need to be?
- What will it be used for?
- Gymnastics (low or high level), Dance, Yoga, Aerobics, Table Tennis, Drama?
- Is it located near the changing rooms, green/technical room, community reception and foyer areas?
- Does it require natural light at high level?
- Consider the specification of the flooring and where users will remove and store shoes.
- Consider creative use of ICT such as the facility to digitally film activities.
Tick these off when you've considered them.

Do pay attention to the shape and dimensions of the room
Do specify fixtures and fittings such as height of mirrors, parallel bars (two heights?), curtains etc.
Do specify controllable ventilation in the space
Do consider a water fountain outside or nearby
Do consider notice boards outside for posting events.

Don't situate it near 'quiet' subjects if you will be using a sound system in the space.
