Design Checklists - Dance Studios

Dance Studios

Things to consider:

  • How flexible does your space need to be?
  • What will it be used for?
  • Gymnastics (low or high level), Dance, Yoga, Aerobics, Table Tennis, Drama?
  • Is it located near the changing rooms, green/technical room, community reception and foyer areas?
  • Does it require natural light at high level?
  • Consider the specification of the flooring and where users will remove and store shoes.
  • Consider creative use of ICT such as the facility to digitally film activities.

Do specify fixtures and fittings such as height of mirrors, parallel bars (two heights?), curtains etc.

Dance UK www.danceuk.org have produced this very useful information sheet which outlines key factors relating to dance floors.
