Tour Ideas
- Get assistance in designing tour from local architecture centres / networks www.architecturecentre.net
- As per example below, try to plan your tour around a 15 minute walk radius
- Giving participants tour questionnaires and disposable cameras will help focus participant attention
- Calculate 10minutes for participants to fill in tour questionnaires at each location
- Generously calculate time to get from location to location and keep within the smallest possible area - the "school day" goes very quickly when your out and about
- Don't try to see too much - better to experience fewer places in more detail - note that the list included only 3 buildings tours but incorporated outdoor squares and arcades as both route and feature.
- Try to start/ finish at or near bus/train drop off / pick up place - design a tour to end near where you start as you don't want to trek back across town!
- Incorporate drop off/ pick up place as part of tour - e.g. use the railway station to think about school access, circulation and signage issues.
- Plan around convenient start/ finish places but don't forget to include sheltered break and lunch areas 10 - 25 participants per tour guide + 1 teacher per 10-15 participants
